Kelly: Current Focus

Warm days, blue skies, and Texas sunshine doing its thing. No complaints over here.

We’ve settled into a really good rhythm here. I’ve been working on my shuffleboard skills, and by “working on,” I mean confidently playing while still learning the rules. I’ve also somehow started making jewelry out of rocks. Actual rocks. Turns out all you need is creativity, a little patience, and friends who are willing to pretend this is a totally normal hobby.

I’ve been spending time helping my friend Sue turn her RV into a warm, cozy space that actually feels like home. There’s something really satisfying about making a small space feel inviting, comfortable, and lived in. Add some soft touches, a little personality, and suddenly it feels just right.

Dean, on the other hand, has gone all in on the activities. Pickleball, billiards, and now volleyball tournaments. Apparently retirement means joining every sport available and treating it like a full-time job. I cheer him on… mostly while planning my next shuffleboard match.

Thursdays are our Joker’s and Peg’s nights, which we take very seriously. Sundays are reserved for the ice cream social, where we are officially regulars now. Familiar faces, good conversations, and ice cream at the end of the week feels like a solid life choice.

Texas has been good to us. Good weather, good friends, plenty of laughs, and just enough going on to keep things fun without feeling rushed. We’ll soak it up while we’re here. And yes, we’ll absolutely be back at the ice cream social this Sunday.

Chelsea: What's in Motion

Post-holiday routine has officially resumed and it is… a lot.

Get up.
Get ready.
Get the kids ready.
Feed the kids.
Teach.
Pick up the kids.
Take the kids to activities.
Feed the kids again.
Clean the kids.
Put the kids to bed.
Laundry.

Repeat daily.
Sleep is optional. Apparently.

Just when we thought we were finding our groove again, the flu decided to make a surprise return. This round went to Carleigh, because of course it did. Thankfully, we are officially on the mend and feeling human again.

But let’s be honest… this mom is tired. Like “I could fall asleep standing up” tired. The kind of tired that coffee side-eyes you because even it is doing its best.

We’re pushing through, routines are slowly falling back into place, and everyone is getting healthier. Now if I could just catch up on about three nights of sleep, that would be ideal.

Until then, we’ll keep showing up, doing our best, and surviving one load of laundry at a time.
